Greetings from Tanzania! Upon arrival, our representative guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to relax and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead.
Arusha is a vibrant hub and the gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit, making it an essential stop for most travelers beginning their journey into the region’s world-famous wildlife destinations.
After breakfast, your driver-guide will meet you, and you will depart for Tarangire National Park, approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive on well-maintained roads.
Named after the Tarangire River—often referred to as the “river of warthogs”—the park depends on this vital water source to sustain wildlife during the dry season. Tarangire is especially famous for its large elephant families, frequently seen gathering along the riverbanks. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, often closely followed by predators such as lions and leopards.
The park is a haven for birdlife, boasting more breeding bird species than anywhere else in the world, and is dotted with majestic ancient baobab trees, some estimated to be over a thousand years old. You will enjoy lunch at a scenic picnic site within the park before continuing your game drive.
In the late afternoon, you will drive to Karatu, where you will check in at your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will travel into the cooler Ngorongoro Conservation Area, pausing along the way to admire the breathtaking views of the Ngorongoro Crater. You will then continue across the conservation area and enter Serengeti National Park through its southern region.
The Serengeti is truly awe-inspiring, renowned for its vast open grasslands and exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. While the park supports an incredible diversity of species year-round, it is most famous for the annual Great Migration, when millions of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing. The migration occurs throughout the year, shifting locations month by month—knowing where to look makes all the difference.
The whole day is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti through game drives. The Serengeti is home to a wealth of wildlife like impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos.
Alongside the iconic landscapes, there’s a good chance of encountering predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Depending on the Great Migration’s location, you might venture beyond the Central region to witness this natural wonder. It’s a genuinely life-changing experience.
Another day dedicated to game drives in the Serengeti awaits! You’ll enjoy a more relaxed pace with early morning and late afternoon game drives. You’ll return to your accommodation for lunch and some well-deserved relaxation.
Every day brings new adventures in the Serengeti, with plenty to explore and discover.
ou’ll witness your final sunrise in the Serengeti! Post breakfast, you’ll embark on a journey toward Ngorongoro Crater, savoring more wonders along the way.
Ngorongoro Crater, concealed by steep volcanic walls, unfolds as a pristine wilderness with expansive savannah, patches of acacia woodland, and shimmering lakes and swamps. The crater’s origin dates back two to three million years, when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed.
Descending into the crater is an adventure in itself. Upon reaching the crater floor, you’ll be surrounded by large herds of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. The crater offers the best chance to spot endangered black rhinos, occasionally visible in the open grasslands. After a full afternoon exploring the crater, you’ll drive to your accommodation in Karatu.
This morning, you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, your final destination on this extraordinary safari! Manyara, a small yet diverse park 120km west of Arusha, offers a unique experience. It’s both compact (one of Africa’s narrowest parks) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary).
The park’s centerpiece is a shallow, salt lake covering a large area, fluctuating with the seasons and hosting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. You’ll spot baboons and elephants in the park’s dense evergreen forest, and be on the lookout for the famed tree-climbing lions.
You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch within the park. After your game drive, choose your drop-off point, whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport. We trust you’ve relished your adventure with Mountain Warriors.
